My family were staying in a nice but small hotel in Taiwan. The hotel was tall, with a gallery of thin walkways along the edges of the space in a sort of mezzanine style and with a large square opening in the middle, where the lower floors were visible. The walkways themselves were decorated with ornate black and white floor tiles, almost in a Victorian style, and had no railings at the edges. As I was walking along a walkway, I fell down this opening until I was caught by a net at the bottom.
I discovered that each floor corresponded to a year of my life, and was furnished as the floor or room of another building that was significant to me in that year. For example, the first floor was my mother's work while she was pregnant with me. The next floor up was the house in which I was born, and so on. Each had notebooks, photos, or objects that I used or were meaningful in some way to me and my family.
As I ascended each floor and explored the rooms, they got smaller, and the ceilings lower, until I had to crouch and dwarfed the objects in the room.
At the top of the hotel was the room representing the present year of my life, though for some reason this was above the floor in which my family were staying. Eventually, I joined them in a seperate (and more normal-looking) part of the hotel.
I was in a shoe shop which was a maze of industrial-looking rooms with dim, flickering overhead lights and loads of futuristic trainers when suddenly I heard someone say "There's Tony Blair!"
I look behind a display and he's crouching down so I burst out laughing. As I laugh, the lights become bright and people begin filming him as he runs away. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to get a photo.
Japan had turned part of the London Underground into a theme park and I somehow ended up there with my brother. There were loads of rollercoaster-esque rides using the tube carriages, and some of the escalators had tuned into rides too.
On one of them, you had to imitate an animal given to you on a ticket at the top of the escalator before you got to the bottom (I got a chicken). At the very end, you could go outside and there was a giant ant that looked like it was from A Bug's Life with a really long neck. The neck had loads of ribs cascading down either side of it, and you had to sneak past without it noticing you.
In my dream, I watched a film called John based on the verse John 11:11 from the Bible. It was largely set in a girls' school and explored the envy felt by a father who had died (in this film, called John) towards his surviving daughter.
John appears in the film watching over his daughter with the head of a pig, and any shots involving him are poorly lit. In contrast, shots with the daughter are brighter - at first. John can see through the eyes of his daughter, and vice versa, and the daughter begins to lose touch with reality as she sees herself through his eyes. She understands that he is unable to rest because he’s jealous that she’s alive and he isn’t.
The more she loses herself, the faster the perspectives seem to shift between the two of them. We come to realise that their consciousnesses are fusing. John is becoming his daughter and his daughter John as the two of them look into a large mirror in the girl's room. The lighting changes from dark to light in faster and faster flickers, before ending the film in a washed-out grey. The daughter's friends do not care.
I drew a picture of John from my dream, which you can see in my gallery.
Dreamt I fougt Cthulu in a storage unit. The dream itself felt like a platform game; I had to dodge its attacks by jumping to other floating platforms.
